The new carpet tile collection contains Econyl®, a nylon which is 100% regenerated by using post-consumer yarn waste and other waste materials. and also utilises a back material called EcoBase™, which uses re-engineered calcium carbonate (basically chalk) from water (drinking) companies. That product can be used several times over through Desso’s own production processes. On average, the collection’s carpet tiles are made from 80% recycled materials and all of the materials used are positively defined.

As a company, Desso has worked hard to develop products that fit in with Cradle to Cradle® principles, in fact, they report that 93% of their commercial carpet tile range is Cradle to Cradle certified at one level or another.

Desso’s new carpet tile collection launches in October providing further evidence that Cradle to Cradle® and circular economy principles do transition into effective commercial models. The company has been developing its products around these principles since around 2008 and for Desso, the momentum only seems to continue building.
