The draft version of the Natural Capital Protocol, a decision-making support device for businesses to use in risk-management processes and in their product and value chain innovations, is being tested by 10 of the world’s largest business, including Coca Cola, Nestle and Dow.
The program is designed for businesses to live-test and contribute to the refining and influencing of the final look and format of the protocol. Each of the 10 companies will test the protocol against their specific business applications, for example, Dow will assess water use opportunities, while Kering will explore the potential to influence strategic business decisions with the results of natural capital assessment.
The testing programme is being led by the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL) and is the product of the Natural Capital Coalition, a global platform that brings different organisations and initiatives under a common vision where business enhances natural capital.
